18oz high grade carbon steel professional framing hammer, two piece construction reduces fatigue caused by shock and vibration. Integrated nail start, full rounded top and claw for smoother more natural nail pulling, overstrike plates on front and back. This hammer has a milled/waffle face
and ergonomic hickory handle. Each head element is replaceable.

These premium hammers from Douglas Tool are cast from a special stainless steel alloy and are vacuum heat-treated for hardness. They feature overstrike guards, side nail pullers, and premium hickory handles. The 15oz Trim hammer features a curved claw, all other sizes feature a straight claw. Available with either smooth finish or waffle faces*.

Curved replacement handle for 23oz Blue Max

Both waffled and milled surfaces provide extra gripping power to a nail. It bites into the head of the nail when striking. A milled surface consists of diamond shaped points that stick up from the surface. These points will also leave their pattern in the wood. A smooth face is less likely to leave a mark in the wood, however it's more likely to slip off a nailhead when struck. A waffle face provides a medium between these two, still giving the extra grip but having a flat striking surface. The striking surface is indented rather than raised.
