What do you do with a Dog Face? Hmmm,..
You can draw steel with them, but it is awkward. There is a technique behind it but it is hard and almost works best with the sledge. It best resembles chopping wood.
That aside their main use is as a planishing hammer, like the old style cutlers hammers. Bladesmiths use them to forge consistent angled plains into a blade. The added weight means they can move metal without much of a swing and thus keep focus on keeping thier angle true.
